McKay’s Books
As part of my Multimedia Production class, I used Adobe programs to create an assortment of graphics and advertisements for a secondhand books, music, and games store with locations in Tennessee and North Carolina. In producing these graphics, I primarily used Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
This is an edited photograph of the store's interior. I used Adobe Lightroom to improve the composition and brightness of an existing picture taken inside the store. The picture helps to illustrate the McKay's mission and story by showing customers perusing the myriad options of books and CDs lining the shelves in an organized and welcoming environment.
I created this style guide for the brand using Adobe Illustrator. After consulting their existing website's visuals, I decided to use a bright color palette. The fonts I used line up with the brand's current preference in terms of promotional materials. I also composed a brief mission statement and compiled the core organization goals that McKay's hopes to align with in their customers' shopping experience.
I created a fresh logo for the brand using Adobe Illustrator, respecting the company's existing font usage and keeping target audiences in mind. I incorporated the bright color palette from the style guide to make the video game controller and headphones. In this way, I created a playful and explorative logo for the brand that brings in three different media found throughout the store (music, books, and video games).
Using Adobe InDesign, I incorporated existing photography of the store's inner workings alongside my own original logo in order to create a promotional poster for the store to use. It also uses the tagline of "a one-of-a-kind shopping experience" that the company has started to incorporate into its branding. This poster serves as a catch-all promotional graphic that the store can use at any point, as it holds long-term applicability towards what brings people into the store and does not rely on any limited-time appeal.
Using Adobe InDesign and my existing edited photograph, I created this advertisement to promote physical media sales at the Nashville location. The framing shows one side of the CD displays found on the upstairs portion of the store. The advertisement primarily targets music fans more than book or video game lovers, which represents a subset of the McKay's demographic.
