Literary Analysis
Eyes Wide Shut: Cultural Dissonance and Religiosity in Wise Blood by Flannery O’Connor
As an English major, it should come as no surprise that I have composed several literary research papers. One of my strongest efforts covers the book Wise Blood, using Haze’s complicated relationship with faith to illustrate the hurdles within an inherently religious society such as that found in some regions of the United States. As someone who has never practiced organized religion, the topic piqued my sincere interest for its unorthodox characterization of Christianity. I use the text as a model for how culture and faith intersect and the positive and negative consequences of that relationship.
I have embedded the full text here for any curious readers. I will happily provide the original file to anyone who requests it; feel free to reach out.
